I am extremely upset and pissed off right now with Orbitz. I booked a flight on 7/23 at roughly 10:30am because it was one of the cheapest one-way flights that I was able to find.

I know that Orbitz has a policy that allows you to cancel flights up to 10pm (CST) the next business day without penalty (my company uses Orbitz for booking my flights and shared this bit of info with me long ago). Well, my wife ended up finding a better deal the next morning which prompted me to cancel my existing Orbitz reservation but that shouldn't have been a problem considering it was before the "cut off" time. I called Orbitz and after being on a phone for a while was told that my refund would appear back on my card within a few days. Well, after 8 days I noticed that I hadn't received my refund yet so I decided to check my Orbitz account only to find that the reservation is still pending?!?!

Now it's showing that if I cancel that I'm going to be charged a $150 airline fee plus a $30 Orbitz fee! I'm on the *** of having this investigated by my credit card to hopes of getting my money back. My wife and I are moving this week and this just adds to the headache.

Has anybody here been in a similar situation!? Any help would be appreciated.

I also was charged a fee ($300 per ticket x 2 tickets) for cancelling a trip to Dublin, Ireland the day before. I fell and required surgery.

They advised me to cancel to "save the most money".

They claim the penalty fee is from US Airways, the airlines deny this repeatedly. The Orbitz terms and conditions do not cite a range of fees for this issue, so it's left open to them to determine while they pass blame instead of stating they are issuing a penalty.

Orbitz is a scam company and I would never again use their service again and for the rest of eternity there going to receive aweful reviews I bought a ticket through their orbits online service to Dublin Ireland for 850 dollars, the ticket printout tells me if I cancel the flight I can re-book it within the year for international flights, not even 6 months after my purchase they tell me my trip is not refundable because I passed the date of my original flight date of aug 2nd. For god sakes I reserved the flight on April 27th. Absolute thieves I am taking them to court

Was wondering, did Orbitz get back to you and resolve the issue?

I'm having a lot of trouble with a double booking- they would not issue a refund and say there is no way around the $150 change fee for using the credit.

Another bad experience with a "middleman" travel agency. You endure far less grief if you book a flight directly with the airline.

To this day, I am amazed that people still waste their time on sites like Expedia, Travelocity, Orbitz, etc...

and then complain when they have issues. That is not surprising.
