New ReviewerI paid for a rental car through Orbitz. On May 19th I picked up the car at the Buffalo airport.
When I got to the counter it was close to closing. The man at the counter asked if I wanted to upgrade for $10 a day. I thought that was a good deal so I said yes. I repeatedly informed him of my prepayment with Orbitz and asked several times if it was only $10 a day extra.
He assured me that it was so. I did not have my reading glasses so that is why I asked. When I was finally billed, it was for an extra $400 over and above what I already paid. There were numerous charges added on to the $10 dollar a day that the man at the counter did not inform me of.
One I did agree to was the gas charge. Otherwise, I feel this was a total fraudulent exchange.
My total cost was over $600 when I originally scheduled a car rental costing $170. This is outrrageous.
User's recommendation: Never, ever use Orbitz or Dollar Rent a Car.
Monetary Loss: $300.
Preferred solution: Price reduction.
Orbitz Cons: Absolute fraud.
Location: Hemet, California
